Keep Your Teeth
This project is personal. I’ve struggled with dental health my entire adult life despite (mostly) following every piece of conventional advice — and now I’m watching history repeat with my son, who at 11 has already had multiple baby tooth extractions and is facing a root canal. The frustration of doing everything “right” and still failing drove me to dig deeper: What’s actually happening? Why do some people seem immune while others struggle?
The guide reframes oral health as ecosystem management rather than bacterial warfare. The core insight: your mouth isn’t a war zone to be sterilized — it’s an ecosystem like a coral reef or garden, and the “kill everything” approach of conventional dental products may be doing more harm than good.
The guide spans nine parts: foundational chemistry of enamel and saliva, the history of oral care from chew sticks to chlorhexidine, understanding actual threats like acid demineralization and biofilm formation, DIY rinse formulations with evidence-based rationales, mechanical disruption techniques, botanical remedies backed by modern research, innovations like nano-hydroxyapatite and oral probiotics, systemic health connections, and practical protocols for different life stages.
Built with MkDocs and the Material theme, deployed to GitHub Pages. Research synthesized with Claude, because sometimes you need to read a hundred papers to realize the practical solution might already be sitting in your kitchen cabinets.
